What Happen to Norton AntiVirus?

Yeah as the title of this post, what the heck happen to Norton Antivirus? Lately, it seems it cannot or unable detect any latest virus threat such as Yahaa script, New Folder.exe, svci.host virus (forget the main virus/worm name) and currently Pet32.exe. My Norton Antivirus 2006 virus definition database always updated since almost everyday I'm online, it will updates on its own and yet its useless. Being a 'die hard' user of Norton I felt unsafe using it nowadays.
On the other hand, Kaspersky seems gain popularity since it can detect the latest virus threat and successfully clean the system from the threat compared to Norton. However, to get the cracked version its a bit irritating since the updating the virus database are different than Norton.
There are also number of anti-virus softwares in Internet to give a try other than Kaspersky,
mainly :-

1. AVG (absolute no-no,)
2. BitDefender (once upon a time was wow, now auww)
3. McAfee (total loser)
4. Nod32 & Panda Antivirus (huh) - not yet tested.

I'm still puzzled whether want to get rid of Norton from my laptop or not. Whatever it is Kaspersky will be my choice after Norton.
