Problem With Virus Infections?

There are lots of people using computers nowadays and yet still certain people unaware about the virus attacks and the way it is spread. Sticking thumb drive without scanning, download and install softwares which is install malware or adware together, never updates virus database and so on. They only realize when the system became sluggish, giving lots of problem, system hang and etc. In the end, they will blame their current anti-virus software as useless. Come on, if you didn't update your virus database of course your anti-virus software is a good for nothing. Sometimes its our very own mistakes to let our computer 'cripple and suffering' because of virus attack. Here, I give some points on how to secure your computer from virus attacks.

1. Update your anti-virus's virus database
  • Old virus database unable to protect your computer from latest virus threat. So, understand the purpose of virus database updates and do it frequently to protect your computer in order to have information on how to 'fight and disarm' the virus.
2. Third party firewall
  • If you frequently use Internet and sometimes surf 'dangerous' sites such as crack search site (which are usually spyware's and adware's 'colonies'), you can use third party firewall software such as Zone Alarm, Comodo Firewall and few others. As for me, I'm using Zone Alarm and I'm really satisfied with it. This software will monitor your system from any malicious activities and informs you if there is anything happen in your system without your knowledge. Its good in blocking malwares and adwares runs secretly.
3. Last but not least, thumb drive scanning
  • Do you know that computers mostly got infected through thumb drive? Most viruses or other threat spread through thumb drives. As an example, the Yahaa script spread through thumb drive. The infected computer will infect any thumb drive that sticked to it and spread to other computers. As soon you open the infected thumb drive, your computer will be the next victim.
  • So, here I give you few simple methods to make sure your or your friend's thumb drive is 'clean' enough to stick into your computer.
    • First rule, don't ever ever and ever double click on thumb drive icon or click open on autorun pop-up.
    • Right click on the thumb drive icon and click open. If you saw autoplay option on the list, then be prepared there might be virus or other threat inside the thumb drive.
    • Then, click Tools>Folder Option>
      • tick Show Hidden files and folders and,
      • untick Show protected operating system files
    • Now you able to see a few hidden files, delete any unwanted files and unrecognized files but make sure you able to differentiate the system files and unwanted files (which is possibly virus).
    • *same method can be use to external hard disk.
Its a simple way to protect your computer from virus attack right? If there is any flaws in my method, you can send comments. Thank you.
