Ouch it is seriously a heart breaking news for me since being almost 24/7 torrent downloader .
Reported by The Star newspaper, the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry will be cracking down illegal material downloading activity from Internet. Moreover, if you were caught you can be fined a minimum of RM250, 000 while the maximum RM500, 000.
If the government starts to get serious about it, I'm dead - so do other downloaders

it is hard to go find every single IP address which is downloading from a tracker. If your tracker is in a "free" country, then it is not possible to attain ur IP address. Plus, it is very hard to exactly say what files that you have downloaded and how much from where...
that's why they shut down the tracker sites, and dont go after the downloaders. They can find you if u use other P2P like Kazaa or eMule, but torrent users are harder to track. When the Western world itself has a hard time doing this, you can always expect our Malaysian ministry to do a lot worse.
just to be safe, you have to use a torrent downloader site, like a seedbox. I used to have one for USD$8 per month with unlimited bandwidth and 5GB space, but they shut down after 3 months. I dloaded my files using FTP after the seedbox dloads them for me.
Lol..good argument however I hope our government won go too far like France till ban Internet connection for those download illegal materials ;p
